Prepping for ramble to RMNP

I’m in the process of prepping for our extended jaunt from Pennsylvania to Colorado. The time constraints are largely due to an upcoming surgery of a total reverse right shoulder replacement – another post maybe?

Anyway, I will be leaving on September 21 right after my appointment with my PCP and returning on October 5 the evening before my Pre-Op meeting at the hospital. We are planning for 4 days out and 4 days back which will give us about 6 days in Colorado – we usually like to travel 300-350 miles per day but will have to extend for this trip. Our main focus will be photographing in Rocky Mountain National Park with an initial side venture in Utah in the greater Bears Ears area. Next we’ll be meeting up with friends from the Texas Professional Photographer Association in Winter Park and spending several days roaming RMNP. Then its a rush back home to get a new shoulder.

We are using the Roadtrippers app to plan the ramble. It is helping us to locate places along the route when we can park overnight for free as we roll down the highway. Those include Cracker Barrell restaurants, Walmart parking lots, Flying J/Pilot truck stops and Loves truck stops. This had worked out well for us as these are right on the route without causing side diversions – we must quickly get to CO and quickly return for our surgery.
